Star Wars: The Edge of Darkness
Darth Maul's Double-Bladed Lightsaber
The purified lightsaber of a Sith Lord
Recovered from Naboo, fragments of Darth Maul’s lightsaber chanced to glimmer in Koro Zil’s eye. The weapon was retrieved by Jinroh Takeda. Disturbed by the darkness within, he dared not touch it, preferring to wrap it up in his robes and secret it away to his quarters.
Takeda thought to destroy the weapon but decided not to under the council Master Ruhn Rahn, who suggested it was possible to purge the darkness from the lightsaber itself. Later, Jedi Master Denya declined custody of the weapon, trusting its protection to Takeda and the Trandoshan jedi, Krasst.
Hundreds of years did little to purge the darkness from a weapon that spilled so much blood. The darkness tempted Takeda’s allies, including Tistura G’Narr.
Hearing of Takeda’s intention to destroy the lightsaber, she stole it, fearing the loss of important Sith knowledge that could be used to free the Kel Dor people.
G’Narr secretly returned the lightsaber after divining the dark secrets within. Takeda never discovered who stole the weapon.
The lightsaber fragments were purified and rebuilt by Takeda while finishing his training at the secret Jedi Academy. The synthesized crystals were replaced by new ones that gave the blade an indigo glow.
